If you are one of our production customers running a Fiery Color Controller, we have important information regarding the upcoming release of Windows 10.
EFI has informed us that Fiery servers running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 will not support the Windows 10 upgrade directly on the server. If the Fiery server is upgraded to Windows 10, it will not operate and the system will have to be rebuilt from original software disks or backup images.
Microsoft announced that a Windows 10 upgrade can be performed through Windows Updates starting July 29th. A “Get Windows 10” notification may pop up on your Fiery server asking you to upgrade to Windows 10. Please dismiss the notification.
EFI has released a patch, based on a solution from Microsoft, which disables the pop-up and prevents the Fiery server from being upgraded to Windows 10. If you are one of our affected customers, your HGi production print specialist will be calling to schedule installation of the patch on your system.
This incompatibility affects Fiery XF and Fiery proServer.
If you are running Fiery Command Workstation or a client application such as Fiery Color Profiler Suite and Fiery Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition, you can safely upgrade to Windows 10.
If you have any questions with regards to this upgrade and whether it affects you, please contact us at 305-623-1921.
